Dream Weavers of Tomorrow: Ignite Your Eco-Imagination!

People are at the center of both the start and finish of our projects.

This is a call for Future-Shapers!

Ever looked at a polluted river, a barren piece of land, or even the everyday ordinary, and imagined something wonderfully different? What if you could transform these scenes, making the world not just better, but more magical, harmonious, and vibrantly green?

If this sparks something in you, welcome! You're already a Dream Weaver of Tomorrow. This isn't about passively wishing; it's about actively designing a brighter future using your most powerful tools: your imagination, creativity, and unique worldview.

From Eco-Challenges to Eco-Creative Solutions

As a researcher in "design fiction," it is often seen how storytelling and making things can help us build better futures. Young minds, especially in diverse and vibrant places, are powerhouses of innovation! We're talking about:

  • Eco-Creativity: Where your love for nature meets your inventive spark.

  • Eco-Fiction: Crafting stories of worlds in harmony with the environment.

  • Design Fiction: Prototyping "artifacts from the future" – imaginative yet grounded concepts for a thriving world.

Our world needs your fresh, hopeful visions. It's time to co-create futures where technology, society, and nature dance in a beautiful, sustainable rhythm, moving beyond purely technical fixes.

The Spark: What is Eco-Creative Appreciative Inquiry ?

"Eco-Creative Appreciative Inquiry" (ECAI) is our exciting starting point. At its core, Appreciative Inquiry (AI) focuses on the best in people and their surroundings. Instead of problems, AI asks: What's working? What gives life? What are our strengths? What do we dream of?

With an Eco-Creative lens, we ask:

  • What natural wonders inspire us?

  • How can our creativity help nature flourish, and how can nature fuel our creativity?

Imagine an Appreciative Ship of Eco-cultural Meaning. This metaphorical ship, guided by your inner ecological voice and fueled by your eco-visioning narratives, helps us navigate away from "eco-cultural deserts" (where our connection to nature has dried up) towards oases of inspiration and action. It's about affirming what gives life, dreaming of positive futures, and courageously steering towards your eco-positive vision.

All Aboard the "Micro Imaginarium": Your Workshop Adventure!

How do we set sail? Through an interactive "Micro Imaginarium-Cum Play Station" workshop – a one-day adventure for about 20 participants, packed with play, storytelling, and design.

Workshop Journey Highlights:

  1. Sparking the Eco-Imagination:

    • We start with playful icebreakers, like imagining eco-magical properties for everyday objects. (My pen? It photosynthesizes ink from sunlight!)

    • Dive into design fiction: What's an "Artifact of the Future"? Think "Seedkeeper's Lockets" humming near fertile soil.

    • Use tools like the "Future Seeds" Card Game to spark initial ideas in teams.

  2. Weaving Future Narratives:

    • Teams select a promising idea and build an eco-fiction around it. Who is the character? What eco-positive problem does their artifact solve?

    • Refine how your concept becomes a tangible "artifact" within your story.

  3. Prototyping the Positive:

    • Learn to create "diegetic prototypes" (physical hints of your artifact) using simple, upcycled materials. The goal is high imagination, not high-tech perfection!

    • Hands-on creation: Build your artifact, considering how it works and sparks optimism.

  4. Sharing Visions & Seeds of Change:

    • In the "Dream Weavers' Showcase," teams present their narratives and prototypes, explaining their eco-positive traits and the hopeful future they suggest.

    • We reflect collectively: What themes emerged? How can these "seeds of joy" grow?

You're the Designer: The Power of Participatory Design Fiction

This workshop is Participatory Design Fiction. You are actively creating, not just listening. Your unique visions, rooted in your experiences and hopes, are vital for futures that are truly inclusive and sustainable. Together, we're building a framework for "Renewer's Design Fiction"—renewing our connection with nature, our hope, and our creative power.

When you design a "Sunbeam Path" or an "Upcycled Wonder-Maker," you're inherently blending Design and Sustainability. The "magical" element often expresses a deep desire for technology and nature to support each other.

Your Role: The Young Dream Weaver

Your role is HUGE! You bring:

  • Fresh Perspectives

  • Boundless Imagination

  • A Deep Stake in the Future

  • An Innate Connection to Play and Wonder

This is a launchpad to cultivate eco-creativity and become an eco-innovator. The "Appreciative Ship" is ready. Its sails are your eco-fictions, its destination a future of shared well-being.

Are you ready to pick up your shuttle and start weaving? The world needs your dreams.
